Committee on Housing & Real Estate

Under City Council, which is the legislative body of the City of Chicago, there are 20 Committees that meet regularly to debate proposed legislation. In May 2023, Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez was appointed as Chairman for the Committee on Housing and Real Estate. The role of the Committee on Housing is to work with City departments on the execution of proposed housing projects and review proposed legislation before they are voted on by the full City Council.

For more information on legislation that is being heard before the Committee this month and view past recorded meetings, you can find the agenda and recordings here.
