Public Safety

The safety of the residents in the 25th Ward is our top priority. Our efforts are focused on working in coordination with organizations and government institutions of our ward, with the aim of reducing violence in our communities.

We are working to expand investment in violence prevention efforts, mental health resources, affordable housing, job creation in our neighborhoods, quality public education, and community development.

    • Luv City: LuvCity works to address systemic injustices that lead to violence in our communities through youth engagement, mentorship, advocacy, and workforce development in the digital and performing arts.
    • New Life: Through their street outreach program, community members work as violence interrupters, first responders, restorative justice practitioners, and resource coordinators for emergency financial assistance and housing assistance, New Life offers a range of programming for youth including sports, mentorship opportunities, and community service. Their violence intervention model includes case management, weekly programming, social activities, court advocacy, as well educational and career opportunities as the team explores all avenues to cultivate constructive change and positive lifestyle choices.
    • Enlace: Enlace takes a comprehensive, multi-systemic and trauma-informed approach to building safety and promoting peace in Little Village. They lead with an emphasis on violence prevention efforts through direct engagement and mentorship for youth in the Little Village community. Enlace also coordinates the Safe Passage program, designed to improve routes for students and families traveling to and from school by creating a safer and more supportive outdoor environment in a number of our schools in the 25th Ward.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, can be more easily reached by calling or texting 988, or chatting on 988lifeline.org. It is a direct connection to compassionate, accessible care and support for anyone experiencing mental health-related distress, including family, friends, and/or caregivers. If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide or experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, 988 provides a connection to free, 24/7 confidential support.

Each Chicago Police Department holds beat meetings on a regular basis, in which residents may voice their concerns and learn more about public safety in their neighborhood. We encourage all residents to join and get to know their local BEAT officers. The 25th Ward is comprised of the 1st, 10th and 12th Police Districts.
