Lucia graduated from Cristo Rey HS and began her higher education at Northeastern Illinois University and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Justice Studies with a minor in Child Advocacy Studies in 2017. With experience as a community organizer and a lead violence prevention specialist, she worked for over 5 years in direct community services in Pilsen and now continues to advocate the importance of affordability and accessibility in disinvested communities across Chicago.
Verónica graduated with a Master’s Degree from Universided Polytechnica de el Egersito in Ecuador. In Ecuador, Verónica has had extensive experience through her secretarial position under the former Ecuadorian President and has allowed for her to easily transition into a government office environment in the states after moving here in 2021. Verónica is passionate about the work she does, engaging with residents and business owners to bring services that had not been easily accessible to certain community sectors.
A native to the Pilsen community, Denise’s parents migrated to the US in 1965, her mother coming from Morelia Michoacan, and her father from Guanajuato. She graduated from St. Stephans and Our Lady of Tepeyac High School. Denise began her professional career at the age of 18 as a sales manager. Her dedication and commitment to entrepreneurship led her to manage and open up her own businesses beginning June of 2002, all within the Pilsen community. Denise enjoys assisting those in her community and continues her passion for service by leading the constituent service team at the 25th Ward Office.
Idalis graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management. In 2020, she began working within the Pilsen Community and has been here ever since. Prior to working at the ward office, Idalis also helped co-found with her family a commercial cleaning business that’s been serving since 2016. As the most recent staffer at the Ward office, she has learned a lot about being able to offer services and resources to the community in her time here.
Sandra graduated from Hubbard HS in the southwest side of Chicago. She began her higher education at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Health and minors in Gender Women’s Studies and Psychology. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Public Health with a concentration in women and child’s health at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Sandra works at the office offering constituent aide and conducting community outreach throughout the 25th ward.
Born and raised in Bridgeport, Ruben graduated from CPS schools Jose Clemente Orozco Academy and Whitney M. Young Magnet High School. He earned his B.A. in Anthropology & Latin American/Latino studies from Depaul University and obtained a M.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.Before his time with the 25th Ward Office, he was a Consular Officer and Policy Researcher for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade at their Consulate-General in Chicago. A longtime resident of Pilsen, Ruben now lives in North Lawndale with his wife, baby girl and two dogs. He is an avid sports fan and a devout Southsider.
Mauro has been living in the Brighton Park neighborhood for a long time. He is a true Sox-Sider and a massive fan of the English Premier League. Like many in our City, growing up, resources were scarce for him and many of the young people in his community. As he got older, he realized a critical need for more affordable housing in many communities. This lead him to get involved and work to make a difference in his community. Mauro strongly believes everyone deserves to have a safe and stable place to call home.
Valeria moved to Chicago in 2018 to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago and has since been a Pilsen resident before joining the 25th Ward office in September 2020. Through her role at the ward office, Valeria has had the opportunity to apply community driven processes and give back to the community through her position as Director of Constituent Services. She is a first-generation graduate from UIC with a Bachelors in Political Science and a minor in Business Administration and has now transitioned to use her skills under the Housing Committee staff.
