Our office is deeply grateful for the work of emergency responders who responded to the extra alarm fire at 1355 W 16th Street yesterday evening and that there were no injuries reported. The building was vacant and under renovation. We are grateful also to Buildings Commissioner Hopkins who was on site immediately and all the workers and neighbors who have stepped up to help our impacted community members with immediate support and long term impacts.
The causes of the fire is still under investigation and we will continue to work with city officials to learn more and to diligently work together with partners to provide support to our neighbors who were impacted or displaced last night. Thank you for your continued prayers and love for our neighbors.
In solidarity,
Byron Sigcho Lopez
